Remember that love of all things pasta? Penne a la Vodka is by far the easiest of all to make and probably a little healthier than Alfredo Sauce.

To make Vodka Sauce I use plain crushed tomatoes. I’ve even crushed tomatoes myself to use for this sauce. I like the texture of the chunks and the fact that it’s pure tomatoes as opposed to a pre-made pasta sauce.

The sauce can be made with either heavy cream or evaporated milk. Start by melting some butter in a pan and adding garlic powder. I have a set of these Circulon fry pans that make it really easy to saute ingredients without them sticking. I then add the crushed tomatoes and dry seasonings like oregano and parsley. Adding the fresh versions can also work very well. Pour in some of the heavy cream or evaporated milk and add salt to taste. I added shrimp and broccoli to the mix and topped it all off with grated parmesan cheese. Any kind of meat and vegetables can be added.
